Warrior Writers NYC Health and Wellness Program Kickoff Event
When: May 18 from 1:00-5:00PM, come in for an hour or two
Where: The Lucid Body Studio located at 320 West 37th St. NY, NY 10018 - 7th Floor (between 8th and 9th Avenue).
What/Why: We recognize the importance of taking an active role in our mental/physical health and that there are a myriad of ways to improve health and wellness, including of course, creativity. Our bodies and minds are connected more than we realize. The goals of the program are to bring about awareness and education on health challenges and resources, to create opportunities for free access to alternative healing modes (acupuncture, massage therapy, yoga, reiki, etc.) and to improve overall health and wellness. We have integrated these healing modalities into previous retreats, and have seen great success. Many veterans have never had the opportunity to try these types of restorative services and are surprised by the positive effects. We invite veterans to receive free healing sessions from professional practitioners.

Workshops & Facilitator's Trainings: Warrior Writers is so excited to host Facilitator’s Trainings for folks interested in hosting workshops for veterans in their own cities. We encourage you to come in teams, we are hoping for 2 veterans and 2 civilians from each city that is trying to start up a Warrior Writers chapter. Because this work is so important, we want you to be able to succeed and believe (from experience) that the more hands you have on deck, the better. Furthermore, it is imperative that at least one veteran be involved from the start in order to create this community. We’ll be debuting our new and improved Warrior Writers Do-It-Yourself guide – a complete guide to creating a healthy and sustainable Warrior Writers Community. There will be a reading/performance after the workshops on Saturday July 27 at 7:30 PM.
Registration & Housing: We are still looking into housing options – but encourage you to find your own and we recommend John Bryan State Park, which is close by. Registration will open soon. Please stay tuned for more information.
